Close-up magic - sometimes called table magic or strolling magic - is performed right in front of a small group, usually 4 to 10 people, using everyday objects: cards, coins, things I've borrowed off you. There's no stage and no distance between me and the audience. It's one of the most social, most memorable forms of entertainment I know of, and it's why I've stuck with it for 20-odd years.

I'm based in Lanarkshire and perform across the Central Belt - Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lanarkshire, Stirling, and the areas around them. If your event's further afield, get in touch and we'll work out travel.

Weddings, corporate events, private parties, birthdays, retirements, stag and hen dos, restaurant residencies - and a fair few things that don't fit neatly into a category. If you're not sure whether your event suits close-up magic, just ask. It fits more situations than people expect.

Most often, I work the drinks reception - moving between your guests as they're mingling, performing for each group in turn. It's a natural fit for the parts of the day where people are stood around waiting, and it takes the pressure off you to keep everyone entertained during the gaps. Sets typically run 60–120 minutes.

I offer both strolling magic - moving through the room during drinks or networking - and table magic for seated guests during dinner. Most corporate bookings end up being a mix of both, tailored to however your event's actually running.

It's an ongoing arrangement - I perform at your restaurant on a regular basis, usually one or more evenings a week. It gives you something repeatable and genuinely different to offer, the kind of thing that brings people back and gets shared. I'm currently taking on new residency bookings across Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Most bookings run 60–90 minutes, which is usually plenty for a drinks reception or a corporate drinks hour. If you need longer, that's no problem - just let me know what you're after.

Weekends - Saturdays especially, April through October - go quickly, so 6–12 months ahead is a sensible window for weddings. Corporate and weekday bookings tend to have a bit more flex. Either way, it's always worth asking even if your date's coming up fast.
